- About me
- Having always had a tremendous passion for horses, the drive to learn and succeed in the equestrian and competition world, Alex is now successfully running her own equestrian business and eventing yard.
Alex started off her equine career at Darryl Thickitt’s yard, a Grand Prix dressage rider. Where she worked her way up to the position of head girl very quickly. Overseeing the care of all horses and staff for over 7 years. Here she learnt from the start how important good basic flatwork and training is, for any type of horse and rider in any discipline. She then moved to Helen Howard’s family run eventing yard, where she took on more of a rider role and caught the ‘eventing bug’! Helping with the training of all the competition horses and backing and breaking of the homebred youngstock. Before setting up her own business, another 7 years later as a freelance rider. She travelled to other people’s yards and exercised and competed their horses, including top event riders like Matthew Wright, which she did for over 2 years.
Now she is lucky enough to make a living and do what she loves, running her own business. Taking horses in to compete, train and break-in for various people, including Bransby home for horses, where she is one of their external trainers. She likes to concentrate on only a few horses at one time so they get the individual attention they need.
Alex has evented up to intermediate level and has successfully completed Osberton and Blair Castle CCI international 3-day events, and Rockingham and Great Witchingham CIC’s. The horses she competes are often placed in the top 10 at BE one day events. As well as the bigger events, she loves bringing on young horses and starting off their ridden and competition careers. Having qualified for, and been placed in, the 4 and 5-year-old young event horse Championships.
Her results for this year are already speaking for themselves, 3 wins in 3 events at BE100 and is out most weekends competing successfully all over the country in all disciplines.
Alex has worked hard all her life to achieve the results she is now deservedly getting. She is a brilliant ambassador for the hard working, everyday event rider, who’s knowledge is second to none and always willing to help anyone.
